Boundaries and Sexual Harassment in the Dental Workplace
Workplace sexual harassment is becoming one of the biggest trending phenomenon on Social Media with the heading “#MeToo.”Dental staff and patients are bringing forward complaints of inappropriate behaviour by dentists more frequently as a direct result. Boundary violations can lead to a slippery slope of sexual abuse of both patients and dental staff due to the inherent power imbalance between dentists and patients as well as in dentists with their employees. This course will help dentists and staff members understand the complexities of professional employment relationships, identify potentially unacceptable behaviours in the dental office and develop office policies and best practices to prevent boundary and sexual harassment issues.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Understand the complexities of professional & employment relationships
Awareness of current legislation and application of current regulations
Develop office policies and best practices to prevent boundary and harassment issues
